Why another city information site?

• We created City-dweller.com because we live in a major city and we wished it existed for our own use!
  
  In a large city, websites that function as a directory for the entire city are just too much. As residents, we don't want to wade through thousands of businesses, only some of which have reviews, to try to find a new restaurant to go to or a great hair salon to try.
  
  City-dweller.com, on the other hand, offers only recommendations by regulars. Only businesses that a local has taken the time to recommend appear on the site.

How does the franchise work?

1. You pay a one-time upfront setup/franchise fee.
2. We provide you with the fully-functional dynamic website, and help you set it up. You do not need to be an internet expert.
3. You "seed" the site with recommendations of your favorite spots, then spread the word about the site.
4. As traffic to the site builds, you sell ad space to local businesses.
5. You also make money from Google AdWords and other contextual advertising on the site.
6. You pay us a small percentage of your monthly profits. You'll also pay for your bandwidth (the hosting fees associated with providing the site to your visitors).
7. As we continue to build additional functionality, you receive FREE upgrades and patches to your site.

How do I make money?

1. From Google AdWords and other contextual advertising on the site
2. By selling banner ads to recommended businesses

When can I sign up?

• We are currently working with an attorney to write the franchise agreements. When the agreements are ready and we've made a few tweaks to our code, we'll be ready to sell the first of the franchises. Check back here periodically or email us and ask to receive periodic updates.
  
  In the meantime, be sure to email us and claim your city!

What do you mean by claiming my city?

• Only one site will be sold for each city. If you write to us now, you reserve your place in line - we will offer the opportunity on a first-come, first-served basis. Reserving your place in line does not obligate you to anything, nor does it guarantee that you will receive the offer.
  
  Note: Although houston.city-dweller.com is already built, it is still available for sale. We've been running it ourselves so far.

What will my website look like?

• We invite you to visit houston.city-dweller.com to check it out for yourself! Your site will be nearly identical.

How much will it cost?

• Prices have not been finalized. We are currently considering an upfront franchise fee of $11,000 and an 11% percentage of your profits, in addition to your paying your actual hosting fees. We will likely offer a payment plan for the upfront fee.

Who owns City-dweller.com?

• City-dweller.com is a project of DOMITECH, L.L.C., a revolutionary web development company.

What do I get in exchange for my franchise fees?

1. A complete dynamic website & email newsletter
2. Technical support in setting up and using the site
3. Free upgrades, bug fixes, and patches for the website
4. Guidance in marketing the site, including how to use pay-per-click advertising, email newsletters, and other online methods
5. Rights to use the City-dweller.com domain name, logo, and marketing collateral
6. Association with an established company
